Zeitgeist (2007)

If you've ever felt as though you were a small part in a very large world, Zeitgeist, the original 2007 Movie will reaffirm your feeling. This compelling documentary explores manipulations of the American masses by those with wealth and power.

By employing three main themes (Christianity, September 11th, and the Federal Reserve) that seemingly have nothing to do with one another, this film may enlighten (or offend) Americans that are spellbound to change the balance of power in the world.

The massive conspiracy that's painted before our eyes is controversial, thought-provoking and gripping. Peter Joseph presents his powerful argument to people that are conditioned to accept the American government and the media as truth. However, he doesn't take a subtle approach that will be easy to swallow for every viewer.

Zeitgeist, the Movie isn't for everyone. If you're interested in exploring the depth of lies, corruption, secrets and manipulation that's spoon-fed to us, you'll most likely find that the two hours it will take you to watch this film will be spent constructively.

Nevertheless, people who are easily offended should probably skip this documentary. After all, films about mass-manipulation, religious manipulation, false flag operations, hidden agendas, economical manipulation and hidden truths aren't everyone's cup of tea.

Whether you're a critic or a fan, the documentary certainly packs a powerful punch. There are many legitimate questions presented and Peter Joseph offers the viewer his own interesting perspective. 

Jehovah's Witnesses Exposed!

A candid look at what the Watchtower Society, also known as Jehovah's Witnesses, is really about.

Jehovah's Witnesses is a millenarian restorationist Christian denomination with nontrinitarian beliefs distinct from mainstream Christianity. The religion reports worldwide membership of over 7 million adherents involved in evangelism, convention attendance of over 12 million, and annual Memorial attendance of over 18 million. They are directed by the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses, a group of elders that exercises authority on all doctrinal matters. Witnesses base their beliefs on the Bible, and prefer their own translation, the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures. Their central belief is the imminent destruction of the present world order at Armageddon and the establishment of God's kingdom on earth, which they consider to be the only solution for all problems faced by humankind.

The group emerged from the Bible Student movement, founded in the late 19th century by Charles Taze Russell, with the formation of Zion's Watch Tower Tract Society. The name Jehovah's witnesses, based on Isaiah 43:10–12, was adopted in 1931. Jehovah's Witnesses are best known for their door-to-door preaching, distribution of literature such as The Watchtower and Awake!, and for their refusal of military service and blood transfusions. They consider use of the name Jehovah vital for proper worship. They reject Trinitarianism, immortality of the soul, and hellfire, which they consider to be unscriptural doctrines. They do not observe celebrations such as Christmas, Easter or birthdays, which they believe have pagan origins that are not compatible with Christianity. Members commonly refer to their body of beliefs as "the Truth", and adherents consider themselves to be "in the truth". Jehovah's Witnesses consider secular society to be morally corrupt and under the influence of Satan, and limit their social interaction with non-Witnesses.

Baptized members who violate the organization's fundamental moral principles or who dispute doctrinal matters may be subject to disciplinary action including expulsion and shunning. Members who formally announce their resignation from the religion are also shunned. Disfellowshipped members may eventually be reinstated to the congregation if deemed repentant.

The religion's position regarding conscientious objection to military service and refusal to salute national flags has brought it into conflict with some governments. Consequently, activities of Jehovah's Witnesses have been banned or restricted in some countries. Persistent legal challenges by Jehovah's Witnesses have had considerable influence on legislation related to civil rights in various countries.

The birth of a dreamer...

John Lennon, the pioneering songwriter and a member of the most-famous pop group of all-time, would have turned 70-years-old on Saturday. Lennon famously claimed the The Beatles were bigger than Jesus. He also claimed that Christianity would fade.

Were The Beatles bigger than Jesus? I’m not sure. Has Christianity faded? Big time.

Aside from being an anti-authoritarian prophet and a man so famous he had to give up “public life,” he wrote incredible songs. And I’m not just talking about beautiful melodies and stirring arrangements — Paul McCartney wrote those, too. But John Lennon told stories, and these stories united people from all walks off of life. The union construction worker loved The Beatles as much as the undergrad war protestor. John Lennon wasn’t all bent about it this like my generation’s tepid hero, Kurt Cobain. It’s all the more inspiring that he wasn’t.

This weekend also marks the release of "Nowhere Boy," a movie about Lennon's adolescence in England. "Nowhere Boy" – which has been praised by no less an eminence than Yoko Ono – has received middling marks from reviewers.

In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Ono remembered that Lennon dreaded his 40th birthday; she said he would have been more relaxed about turning 70.

But she also said the state of the world today would have made her husband "totally angry.... He would have felt like he wanted to run somewhere and just bang something or strangle someone, you know? But then I think, I'm sure he would have relaxed and decided he should still be an activist. We need to really do something about the world. Otherwise, we're all going to blow up together," Ono said.
