Eat Trash!

Facts About Food Waste
“The kind of society that would waste this much food is one that doesn't value the earth or the products it produces. It's in our own personal detriment to continue the process.”
-Dr. Timothy Jones
Every year in America we throw away 96 billion pounds of food.

One half of all food prepared in the US and Europe never gets eaten.

The Department of Agriculture estimated in 1996 that recovering just 5 percent of the food that is wasted could feed four million people a day; recovering 25 percent would feed 20 million people. Today we recover less than 2.5 percent.

Join Josh Kunau, producer of the film DIVE!, and Jonathan Bloom, author of American Wasteland, and Alex as we talk about food, dumpster diving, and why almost half of the food America produces winds up in landfills. Essentially throwing away hundreds of billions of dollars at a time when fiscal cuts are all the rage. We discuss what's wrong and who's doing something about it.

Date:
14th century

A parable is a brief, succinct story, in prose or verse, that illustrates a moral or religious lesson. It differs from a fable in that fables use animals, plants, inanimate objects, and forces of nature as characters, while parables generally feature human characters.

Parabol'.

Parabol takes place in a grungy apocalyptic world where fossil fuels have been all but exhausted and are only available to the military and the corporate elite. The lower cities, known as the “Poverty Zones”, are in a state of squalor. The world government and it’s economy is run by a global corporation known as “GovCo“.
