Today the Feds raided the website MegaUpload, which led to the arrests of seven people across the globe, according to some reports. Now the Hacktivist group, Anonymous, has come forth in retaliation to the crackdown and launched an attack on several websites including The Department of Justice, Universal Music Group, and the Recording Industry Association of America. The wave of attacks is just the beginning and Barrett Brown, founder of Project PM, joins us to discuss whats next for the groups.

“Keep in mind the DOJ’s indictment is actually a sales document; it is their interpretation of things, and they are throwing spaghetti on the wall with their claims and seeing what will stick,” Goldman said.
Many Web firms such as YouTube have pledged to respect copyright laws, but users still post pirated material on their sites, triggering legal battles between media companies and Silicon Valley.
Even before it was shut down, Megaupload had its legal troubles. It was in a fight with Universal Music because celebrity artists such as Jamie Smith, Kanye West, P. Diddy and Will.i.am endorsed the Web site. Some of those musicians had close connections to a leader of Megaupload, Swizz Beatz, and his wife, Alicia Keys.
Web companies are also tangling with powerful lobbyists who represent Hollywood and other traditional media companies.
On Friday, lawmakers delayed action on legislation that would have given law enforcement more power to shut Web sites down. Leading Internet firms had used their most prominent sites to protest the bills.
But advocates for the measures signaled that they were far from giving up on the fight.
Former Connecticut senator Christopher J. Dodd, now head of the Motion Picture Association of America, made a candid rebuke of the lawmakers that his industry financially supports.
“Those who count on Hollywood for support need to understand this industry is watching very carefully,” Dodd said in a Fox News interview Friday. “Don’t ask me to write a check for you when you think your job is at risk and then don’t pay attention to me when my job is at risk.”
While acknowledging the problem of pirated content, companies say that the ability to freely share ideas and content over the Web is critical for the future of the Internet. Un-Occupy Bloomington!

In October of 2011 a group of weekend activist gathered together calling themselves "Occupy Bloomington". Anti-Society t.v. was there broadcasting LiveStream and asked the question "Why are you here?" to anyone passing by. Not very many members of the "Occupy Bloomington" group utilized the Live feed, but a number of long time "homeless" and "street people" of Bloomington did. This is one of them...

I didn't spend much time at the camp because I am allergic to Grapefruit, Pineapple, and Trustifarians. I had the Hives as a result, and I had to leave. LOL I fared well in Berzerkeley's People's Park, Tompkin's Square Park in the Lower East Side, Earth People's Park in Norton Vermont, and even both Hog Farms (Wavy's and Yonder's). Oh yeah. Plus Rollo's Farm, and Zeus's Farm. The difference in Bloomington is that the Noobs came in attempting to set "Rules" for the Parkies who have always dwelled here, and then the Noobs did act a bit like a cult. Or was it a clique. Needless to say, the mainly disrupted the Milleux of the existing inhabitants, and became the corporate fat cats that they were initially protesting against. Now that the event has been squelched, I may be able to ride my bike through the park, and maybe even play some guitar without some dudes trying to borrow my guitar. The Occupy folks seem to have gotten off lucky with the fact that the city didn't use tear gas or fire hoses on the park. I feel that most of the movement was some kind of contrivance of egotistic cock fighting in the name of photo opportunities and other such ilk. I have been billy clubbed by the face scrapers, and believe me; It hurts a lot. This movement seemed to actually kiss the arse of the Regency and Gentry once they started making sleazy "Deals" with the mayor. Then, when it went badly they seemed to immediately go to town hall to suckle the leathery breast of the corporate beast itself. It was a collective shameful series of acts that leaves me slightly disgusted. And I actually "AM" a Hippie. I hope that you repost this statement ASTV. And maybe even put up my actual video interview on YouTube. It may indeed illuminate the real causes occurring in Amerika. I did find some of the "Older" hippies alright at times. The Occupy movement also dropped the ball when they ran off the guy who was bringing water to them with his van because he is a Christian. That kind of turned me off of their useless banter about the time that the electricity was cut. I think that the Occupy Movement kind of Neutered and Spayed itself very efficiently. Hey. at least they accomplished that. I am also surprised that this action did not result in the city putting a fourteen foot fence and gate around it and close the park for rennovations like New York did in 1991. Looks like they got off lucky this time. BTW. My statements are merely opinions. Ones which are backed up by a whole lot of experience coast to coast. I am a radical after all. From the ACLU website, "President Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) today, allowing indefinite detention to be codified into law. As you know, the White House had threatened to veto an earlier version of the NDAA but reversed course shortly before Congress voted on the final bill. While President Obama issued a signing statement saying he had “serious reservations” about the provisions, the statement only applies to how his administration would use it and would not affect how the law is interpreted by subsequent administrations.

The statute is particularly dangerous because it has no temporal or geographic limitations, and can be used by this and future presidents to militarily detain people captured far from any battlefield.

Under the Bush administration, similar claims of worldwide detention authority were used to hold even a U.S. citizen detained on U.S. soil in military custody, and many in Congress now assert that the NDAA should be used in the same way again. The ACLU believes that any military detention of American citizens or others within the United States is unconstitutional and illegal, including under the NDAA. In addition, the breadth of the NDAA’s detention authority violates international law because it is not limited to people captured in the context of an actual armed conflict as required by the laws of war.

We are extremely disappointed that President Obama signed this bill even though his administration is already claiming overly-broad detention authority in court. Any hope that the Obama administration would roll back those claims dimmed today. Thankfully we have three branches of government, and the final word on the scope of detention authority belongs to the Supreme Court, which has yet to rule on the scope of detention authority. But Congress and the president also have a role to play in cleaning up the mess they have created because no American citizen or anyone else should live in fear of this or any future president misusing the NDAA’s detention authority.

The ACLU will fight worldwide detention authority wherever we can, be it in court, in Congress, or internationally."

On May 4, l970 members of the Ohio National Guard fired into a crowd of Kent State University demonstrators, killing four and wounding nine Kent State students. The impact of the shootings was dramatic. The event triggered a nationwide student strike that forced hundreds of colleges and universities to close. H. R. Haldeman, a top aide to President Richard Nixon, suggests the shootings had a direct impact on national politics. In The Ends of Power, Haldeman (1978) states that the shootings at Kent State began the slide into Watergate, eventually destroying the Nixon administration. Beyond the direct effects of the May 4th, the shootings have certainly come to symbolize the deep political and social divisions that so sharply divided the country during the Vietnam War era.

We will have an event board so that if you are interested in working on a specific event or action you can post your interests and see who else wants to take part.

We will use this park as a central hub to plan other events and actions in different areas. If you are a part of Occupy Bloomington we ask that you keep all illegal drugs and alcohol off the premise. It is important that we show that we are serious and we do not want others to have any excuse to question our motives.

If you have a tent or any camping supplies please bring what you have. Every Little Helps. If you are not able to stay at the site, but still want to help or show support we have a variety of things that are JUST AS IMPORTANT as actually camping out. We all have different passions and skills and this will be most successful if everyone is willing to bring something to the movement.

We want this to be a wonderful kickoff so if you have any instruments please bring them along! Also bring poster board, paints, brushes and whatever else you can grab because we are going to have an arts and crafts night as well. if you have any ideas on how to make this a great kickoff, please suggest it!

Bring food to share as well and we can have a sort of impromptu picnic to celebrate the start of our occupation.

We have decided to not to adopt an abrasive position with law enforcement but remember that a conversation just about the weather can quickly turn into something much more heated. Exercise extreme caution when speaking with the Police.

It is important that we show solidarity not only with the protestors on Wall Street but within the Indiana movement and on a personal level with each other. Remember, together we are the 99%, alone we are 1 in 7 billion.

Have you ever had a dream?

Have you ever had a near-death experience?

Have you ever seen those funny shows about people’s “alien” abuction stories?

Chances are you have answered at least one of these questions. Now you are most likely wondering, “what does this have to do with DMT? I’ve never even heard of that.” All though you may have no idea what DMT is, chances are you have experienced it at least a few times this past week.

DMT or Dimethyltryptamine, is a chemical compound that is found in the part of your brian called the Pineal Gland. The Pineal Gland is a pinecone shaped gland in the middle of your brain located in between your two eyes. This chemical compound is found in every living animal, human, and some plants.

Soooo why is this important?

Dmt is responsible for something that baffles people as well as is a common occurence everynight, aka dreams. During your REM (rapid eye movement) cycle of sleep, this chemical is released into the bloodstream. This is what causes you to dream, and have a sense of “being” while you are in that dream process. Why this chemical is relased during your REM cycle? That is one of the many mysteries surrounding this chemical compound.

DMT, like many mind altering substances, has been around since the dawn of human civilizations. In the US in 1931 this chemical compound was first scientifically synthesized by chemists. It was not until the 1950’s, that scientists discovered it has already occured in nature for millions of years. The first found documentation of DMT dates back to as early as the 8th century AD. Many South American shamans have been using a plant containing DMT for spirituality, and ceramonies for hundreds and thousands of years. Many other ancient cilivizations, such as the Ancient Egyptians, have been doing studies on the Pineal Gland and the uses of it since the time of the mummies. During mummification, the Egyptians would throw away the entire brain but save the Pineal Gland in a sacred jar to be buried with the dead. They believed it was this gland that was responsible for human consciousness. The Ancient Egyptians and the South Americans were two of the many acient cilivizations and great thinkers to take interest in this mysterious part of our body.

More current history

The United States made DMT illegal in 1971 and was not able to be used by even scientists until the early 1990’s. It is currently considered a Schedual 1 drug if you are caught selling or possesing it. It was not until the mid ‘90’s that scientists started doing more research on this chemical compound. It remains illegal today in the United States as well as many other European contries. The most extensive research performed on this compound has been done by Rick Strassman, a scientist and psychiatrist. If DMT naturally occurs in your body, how do you “do” DMT?

DMT can be extracted from many different kinds of plants such as many strands of the acacia plant, and different reed plants. This chemical is found in everything from theroots to the actual flowers of these plants. Extracting the chemical from these plants is somewhat difficult, and if you were not a good chemistry student you most likely will have some difficulty.

Plants are not the only way of obtaining more DMT then what is naturally occurring in your body. Bufo toads are also a way of extracting this chemical compound. These toads naturally occur in Central and South America, and have been used in these countries for spiritual practices for thousands of years. This toad produces venom which needs to be “milked” by stroking the underneath of its chin to stimulate an attack response so it produces this venom. Despite the common misconception, “licking” toads won’t make you “trip,” it’ll make you sick. Instead smoking this venom is the better and more effective method.

DMT is found in almost every living thing on Earth, but most can not be extracted and used by humans.

So what makes DMT different from say, LSD or Shrooms?

DMT is different from other hallucinagenics because it is not meant to be taken as a fun, recreational, drug. People don’t take DMT to see pretty colors and magical unicorn lands, they take it as a spiritual renewal of their body and soul. DMT is released when you are close to death in large amounts to let you contemplate your life, as well as make it easier for you to pass on. If we can tap into that viewpoint of our mind while we are alive who knows what kind of amazing discoveries we can make about ourselves, the way we think and how our brain functions. People do things for religious purposes everyday in the form of ceremonies, rituals, and meditation so why people shake their heads whenever someone suggests something new? Many people do not even realize the ignorance that flows through people’s perceptions of religion. The Catholic Church uses small amounts of wine in their religious practices, and even though that is technically illegal because wine is an alcoholic beverage and if you under 21 as we all know, we can’t consume it. For whatever reason however, the government allows this practice to be continued, and nobody ever thinks twice about it. So if people have been using DMT for religious purposes for hundreds, and thousands of years why is that now illegal? If people were more educated on the subject of self meditation, spirituality, and knowing oneself, the world would have so much less anger and hate because people could learn to control themselves and truly know the person they are. If this could possibly help us find our true selves it baffles me on how our society is so intently apt on making this illegal, and shunning it from the public eye.

I do not consider DMT a drug because it should not be treated like one. This chemical compound should be respected, and people should be educated on DMT, not to get people to want to do it, but to learn to respect other people’s usage of it for their own personal self-discovery.

People learn and grow everyday but it is the occurrences that are strange, stand out, and move us, that really have profound impact on our lives.

So we’ve heard enough about what it is, does, and where it comes from…so how do we actually do DMT? Isn’t it already in our body?

There are several different ways to “do” DMT

The most common form of doing DMT is by smoking it. The powder-like material is usually put on top marijuana because of DMT’s unpleasant taste. Within anywhere between 1-3 hits you will immediately start feeling the effects.

Other forms of doing DMT is by injecting it. Most cases, besides in studies done in labs and by physiciatrists, people usually do not inject it.

Other ways of doing DMT include drinking it. “ayahuasca” made from Banisteriopsis caapi, has inhibitors of poisenous substances that otherwise would be harmful to the body if taken orally.

This is why “licking toads” is an urban legend. Injesting the venom the Bufo toad extracts without proper processing can be harmful to your health.

In an episode of the popular television show, 1000 Ways To Die, it displays 2 young men venture into the wild to find toads to lick to “trip” little do they know that is not only a stupid idea in the fist place, they lick poison dart frogs instead. This video just illustrates the common misconception of using licking toads is the wrong way to ingest DMT.

It resulted in the death of Weaver's son Sammy, and his wife Vicki.

Today's playlist includes a full length documentary about what really happened up there in Idaho in August of 1992. After the documentary in the interest of showing the facts from our own government, is a series of 20 videos of the actual court hearings.

Are we making Holes in Heaven? HAARP (High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program) is a controversial high frequency radio transmitter, or "ioniospheric heater," which is believed to be descended from the works of Nikola Tesla and is jointly funded by the US Air Force, the US Navy, the University of Alaska and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in remote Gakona, Alaska.

Built by BAE Advanced Technologies (BAEAT), its purpose is to analyze the ionosphere and investigate the potential for developing ionospheric enhancement technology for radio communications and surveillance purposes.

The most prominent instrument at the HAARP Station is the Ionospheric Research Instrument (IRI), a high power radio frequency transmitter facility operating in the high frequency (HF) band. The IRI is used to temporarily excite a limited area of the ionosphere. Other instruments, such as a VHF and a UHF radar, a fluxgate magnetometer, a digisonde and an induction magnetometer, are used to study the physical processes that occur in the excited region.

Work on the HAARP Station began in 1993. The current working IRI was completed in 2007, and its prime contractor was BAE Systems Advanced Technologies.

As of 2008, HAARP had incurred around $250 million in tax-funded construction and operating costs. HAARP has also been blamed by conspiracy theorists for a range of events, including numerous natural disasters.

B-town Bike Scene!

City of Bloomington officials announced a plan to make the city friendlier to bicyclists and pedestrians by 2016!

Image via Wikipedia 2016!? What the hell? Don't these Hoosiers know that the world is going to end next year in 2012? What the hell are improved bike conditions going to do after the apocalypse? Of course I am just joking (or am I?), but still, why will it take so long to improve roads to make them more bike friendly here in B-town? I mean, I am seeing tons of construction and millions of dollars being put into road renovations all over town, much of which I have to navigate through on my bicycle, and even more hoopla being raised about the B-line trail construction every day. So why not funnel some of those resources into improving existing bike lanes and adding more bike lanes NOW rather than years down the road? Why not make the streets and roads just as safe and accessible to those of us who choose not to roll around in steel boxes burning dead dinosaurs and polluting up our environment both locally and globally? I think that every damn street, road, highway and byway in Monroe County, hell on the entire planet, should be made more accessible to those who choose to bicycle or walk more so than those nasty and selfish fossil fuel burning behemoths! But that is just my humble opinion.

On the brighter side, the bike scene is alive and thriving here in B-town. From the Bloomington Bike Project to the Little 500, B-towns bike scene is pedaling strong!

We Are Traffic!

The first Critical Mass ride was in September 1992 in San Francisco. There were 48 people. The ride increased in size by about 75% each month so that by the time 1993 came about, Critical Mass had almost 500 riders and was becoming well known among bicyclers in the city--although city officials still hadn't registered its existence. A couple months after that people in other cities started noticing and began other Masses. Also in 1993, San Francisco police and Mayor Frank Jordan noticed us and struggled with how to deal with us. It took until June 1997, when Critical Mass was almost 5 years old, for the "new" mayor Willie Brown to make any special note of us: He proved he had no idea what we were about when he made comments that motivated the big July 1997 ride and police riot.

Every year in America we throw away 96 billion pounds of food.

One half of all food prepared in the US and Europe never gets eaten.

The Department of Agriculture estimated in 1996 that recovering just 5 percent of the food that is wasted could feed four million people a day; recovering 25 percent would feed 20 million people. Today we recover less than 2.5 percent.

4200 Block of West Vernal Pike, Ellettsville Fire Dept., Blooomington Hospital Ambulance Service, and Monroe Co. Sheriff Dept. responded to the scene. One human fatality found inside the residence. Reader Kyle Landgrebe submitted the photo.
A man’s body was found on the floor of a bedroom of a home on West Vernal Pike Sunday night by Ellettsville firefighters who extinguished a blaze at the one-story frame residence.

Ellettsville fire chief Jim Davis said a fire at 4230 W. Vernal Pike was reported at 8:32 p.m. Sunday, and the first fire units arrived within three minutes to find flames shooting through the bedroom windows.

The fire was knocked down in less than 10-15 minutes, according to Davis, who said the man was found dead on the floor of the bedroom during a search of the home. Identification of the man was being handled by the Monroe County Coroner’s Office, according to Davis.

Davis said the cause of the blaze is still under investigation, but he said the fire appeared to start in the vicinity of the bed in the room where the man was found. The Indiana Fire Marshal’s office was notified. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office also had units at the scene, Davis said.
